Dedicated to making you look and feel your best everyday
Just Bronzed Airbrush Studio offers Arizonas most unique experience in spray tanning. Our highly trained professionals are dedicated to providing top quality service and making sure that you look and feel your best! While there are many tanning solutions on the market, Just Bronzed prefers only a limited line of solutions that we feel are the best in the industry. Quality solutions are key to achieving the best outcome of your airbrush tan. We are licensed and shop certified. Just Bronzed was also awarded Best of 206 in 2016 for tanning. We are dedicated to offering only the best in sunless tanning.
All of our spray tans are applied by trained, qualified professionals with years of experience in the field. We use all-natural, sugar cane-based solutions that will never appear orange and you will leave with natural-looking sun-kissed bronze skin!
A spray tan is obviously different from sunbathing, but it’s also more complex than simply painting over the skin. Check out our explanation to learn the science behind sunless tanning.
Besides covering your body in beige post-its, there are two primary ways to get a rich, deep tan without exposure to UV rays: bronzers and self-tanners. Based on a combination of moisturizer and tinted powder, bronzers stain the skin to darken it temporarily, resulting in a synthetic tan that can easily be scrubbed off with soap and water. Self-tanners, meanwhile, actually affect the skin on a cellular level, emulating the natural effects of sunlight to create a lasting color. Available in forms ranging from lotions to airbrush sprays, self-tanners make use of a colorless sugar compound called dihydroxyacetone, more commonly known as DHA.
When applied to the skin, DHA triggers a safe chemical reaction—similar to the browning effect on bread’s outer crust—in amino acids on the skin’s surface, producing complex polymers called melanoidins. These polymers exhibit a darkened appearance virtually identical to the natural pigmentation caused by melanin during UV exposure. Unlike sun tanning, however, this process only affects the cells in the outermost layer of the epidermis, and since the body sloughs off millions of surface-level skin cells everyday—billions when we wear our trendiest sandpaper suits—sunless tans tend to fade significantly after about five days.
WHAT IS DHA?
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective sunless tanning products contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. DHA is a colorless chemical (it is derived from glycerin) that interacts with the amino acids in dead skin cells to produce a brown color change. Since these dead skin cells are constantly being shed, the color change produced by DHA usually lasts about five to seven days.
There are no known dangers of the use of DHA on the body, as it’s been proven by the FDA to be safe to apply for a sunless tan. The only restriction, as outlined by the Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act, is that DHA, when used in cosmetic solutions, is for external use only. That means you probably shouldn’t eat it, even though it’s 100 percent natural.

With over 25 years in the industry Aleisha started out as a young girl, tanning in UV beds. She then discovered spray tanning/airbrush tanning and while that seemed a better alternative to UV beds, the sunless tanning solutions were not the best back then. Orange tones, streaking, often had a bad post spray smell - it overall - had a bad wrap. Having educated herself about her own personal need for a better “solution” she met Terry Hunter, owner of Bronzed The Art of Tanning. Terry Hunter is the GURU to celebs such as Carmen Electra and Chrissy Teigen, Britney Spears, and the top show business performers in Las Vegas NV. Aleisha trained with Terry for more than 10 years shadowing him and learning the best methods for airbrush tanning. Aleisha has also airbrushed local celebrities in Seattle Washington where she originated her first store and maintained the majority of clientele for over 15 years. She was featured on NEW DAY northwest, along with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance doctors, to help educate the public about the harm of conventional tanning beds and Melanoma. She has also sprayed a handful of Hollywood celebrities upon their visit to Seattle. (Shhh we can’t tell you who they are – discretion is part of our integrity to all of our clients)!
